In the episode of "Gunsmoke" that I watched the people were picking on Asians. Western men killed a Asian man just to have a great laugh. Then a hired gunman to kill to sheriff steps up for the Asian man. But the gunman and ends up getting shot because he stands up for what he thinks is right.

I think that the south should not have been granted amnesty. They did horrible things to African Americans, and caused a war because of it. If their never was slavery then their would not have been a civil war. And resulting in that means that many Americans would not have died.

What effect did Reconstruction have on former slaves? Were they better off after Reconstruction than they were before the Civil War?

The reconstruction had a bad effect on the slaves. When they were freed they had no place to go, and they also had no money. And land owners knew that and took advantage of that. They gave the freed slaves land and gave them loans so that they could get money from the slaves. So because of that the slaves were better of before all this happen.

Why was Abraham Lincoln's concern more focused on preserving the Union, rather than slavery?

Lincoln had very good reasons to be more focused on preserving the Union. If he was more focused on getting rid of slavery then he could have lost everything he worked on to get the Union and confederates to be one nation. If he was more focused on slavery then their would probably be two different nations.

A government that governs the least is a better according to Thoreau for a good reason. If the government has more control people will be more likely to fight back against the government. Every leader of a country fears being over thrown by his/her people. So to stop that the government needs to be less involved.

Yes i believe we should change the way we teach younger students. Everybody deserves to know the truth about what happened in our history. If you teach kids wrong they will believe to wrong thing and wont accept the truth.
